Good oral hygiene is important during the orthodontic treatment in order to avoid collection of plaque around braces. The plaque can cause discoloration, decay of the teeth and irreversible damage.

Advices during treatment

Brush for 3 minutes at least three times per day after each meal

Use toothpaste with fluoride and change your toothbrush when
is worn out

Use timer or 3 minutes of your favorite song while brushing

Use interdental brushes daily, in and around the appliances to clean the areas around the braces

Floss your teeth everyday without applying too much force

Carry a case with toothbrush and toothpaste with you and brush your teeth between meals

It’s advisable to minimize sugar intake to once a day. Better for your general health and teeth health

Regular cleaning and check ups every 3-4 times per year by your dentist. Reminder will be given to you by your orthodontist.

Follow the brushing instructions given by your orthodontist

An oral hygiene kit comprising from a special toothbrush and toothpaste will be provided to get you started with taking appropriate care of your teeth during treatment.
